Shown right⇒ Our new
weather station tower. This station uses
state-of-the-art sensors from Campbell
Scientific. Sensors shown in this photo include
our new CC640 SkyCam, the PWS100 present weather
sensor, our new ultrasonic anemometer, the RM
Young Wind Monitor.
Other sensors not shown include our new 255-100
Evaporation SubStation, Fuel Moisture &
Temperature sensors, Soil Moisture & Temperature
sensors, the TB4 tipping bucket rain gauge, the
HMP50 ambient & dew point temperature sensor and
the CNR1 Net Radiometer.
This vast array of equipment is wired to our new
computer system through the CR1000 datalogger &
AM16/32B Multiplexer. The new station is set up
with its own backup power should power be lost,
and is set in over 2,000 pounds of concrete so
it's not going anywhere, and will be here for
decades to come to serve the our college, our
community and colleges & universities around the
world.

Welcome
to the Los Angeles Pierce College
Weather Station!
We are the official weather station of
Woodland Hills, California. For over 60
years our weather station has been
providing the local community with
consistent, accurate, quality data.
Our station was one of the first
official cooperative weather stations in
the country to independently provide its
archived data online and is one of the
oldest operational cooperative weather
stations in the country.
Our data has been—and is continually—used by colleges, universities,
governments and private industry
throughout Eurasia, Africa & the
Americas. If you have any questions or
comments, please feel free to send an
e-mail to either myself or Professor
Russell. We hope you find your visit to
the Pierce College Weather Station's
website useful and welcome your return.

SUMMARY OF LINKS
Automated Data
The menu on the left is easy to
navigate. If you are looking for current
and recently updated data pick any one
of the links under Automated Data. The
24-hour data pages upload every
24-hours; from 12 AM to 12 AM, and the
other from 4 PM to 4 PM. PWS stands for
Present Weather Sensor; the PWS provides
METAR-style data which includes
precipiation type during precipitation
events and visibility given in statute
miles.
Our SkyCam provides a photo of sky
conditions over the San Fernando Valley
and updates every 5 minutes. The camera
is situated to face north. 10-minute
data uploads every 10 minutes, Hourly
data uploads every hour on the hour, and
the NWS data uploads at 10 AM and is
meant to provide the National Weather
Service with the most accurate minimum
temperature since midnight of the given
day (12 AM to 10 AM).
Archived Data
For over a decade, this section is what
has set us apart from other stations;
our online data available free to
anyone, anytime. Here you can find links
to all our sensors' data. These data are
uploaded near the beginning of each
month & are free to use for research or
to simply satisfy your curiosity!

Weather Education
Albert Einstein once said,
"Intellectual growth should commence at
birth and cease only at death." A
fundamental understanding of science
will set you on the right path towards a
prosperous future. In this section you
will find links to everything from the
groundwork of what science is, to the
details of how energy from our Sun
ultimately powers the ever-changing
world of atmospheric dynamics. You will
also find some off-site links that may
be useful.
